Research

The Cancer Society is a major funder of life-saving and world class cancer research through its National Research Grants Programme.  The applications follow a rigorous assessment procedure similar to that undertaken by the Health Research Council. Each year grants approved for funding through the National Grant Round total over $1 million and represent a wide range of research projects spanning the cancer continuum. A number of scholarships are awarded annually to allow students to undertake advanced research in the field of cancer, leading to a Doctorate in Philosophy from a New Zealand University.

The 2019 Programme Grant Funding Scheme is now open for applications see 2019 Research Programme Grant for further details.

The 2019 Grant Round is also open for applications, see 2019 Grant Round for further details.

Note, each individual listed on a Programme Grant application is also eligible to be Principal Investigator on one grant application in the Grant Round, and may be named as an Associate investigator in one additional application in the same round.
